Dr. Angi Williams lives her motto daily by “Doing Whatever It Takes” to help the students of Galena Park Independent School District be successful, life-long learners. Dr. Williams graduated with honors from Forest Brook High School in the North Forest Independent School District. She attended elementary and junior high schools in the Houston Independent School District. She has been serving students as an educator for forty years. Her teaching career began at Forest Brook High School, where she was the first student to return to her alma mater to teach. Dr. Williams continued teaching mathematics in Aldine I.S.D. and eventually went on to serve as an elementary counselor in the Galena Park Independent School District. Dr. Williams spent two years as Assistant Principal at Galena Park Middle School. She was then promoted to Principal of W. C. Cunningham Middle School where she, her students and staff became the first secondary school in Galena Park I.S.D. to earn the Texas Education Agency’s “Exemplary” rating.
In 2000, she became Principal of the newly constructed Dr. Gerald D. Cobb 6th Grade Campus. The school earned the Texas Education Agency rating of “Recognized” during its inaugural year. She has also served as Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and now proudly serves as Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Prairie View A & M University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Counseling and Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration from Texas Southern University. She was selected a recipient of a scholarship to attend Lamar University’s 2013-2014 Superintendent Academy XXI. She truly exemplifies the meaning of “life-long learner.”
Dr. Williams is a member of several educational organizations. She has received numerous awards, but those of which she is most proud include the Distinguished Alumni Award from the North Forest Independent School District, the Outstanding Educational Achievement Award from the Galena Park Education Association, the National Life Achievement Award from the Galena Park Area Council PTA, the Most Outstanding Trailblazer in Education Award from the Ivy League Educational & Charities Foundation and LULAC Roast & Toast Honoree.
Dr. Williams was nominated for the 2016 Texas Association of School Boards Superintendent of the Year Award by the Galena Park I.S.D. Board of Trustees and was selected the 2016 Region 4 Superintendent of the Year by the Region 4 Education Service Center. Dr. Williams followed in her footsteps to become educators. She is also the proud grandmother of three grandsons and three granddaughters. Dr. Williams attends St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Leroy Lacy, Jr.
